A New Type of Textile Sculpture

Nicole Lupton

I've been working on a new type of textiles sculpture, developed from one of the first piece of textile artwork 'The Dark Knight and The Hawk Eyed Moth'. From this piece I received comments from people believed that the moths were real (taxidermy), this gave me the idea to create this sculpture. Creating a piece which has a 360 degree view is always tricky, but the sense of achievement is always greater and it always feels more magical when you can hold it in your hand. Unlike my other complete 3D sculptures I deiced to encase it in this glass dome, which not only acts as a frame proctecting the piece but adds to the taxidery feel.
