Troublesome Two
Otters are notoriously inquisitive, playful and intelligent in character showing a childlike resemblance in manner. Here two troublesome Otters wrestle on the river edge, their bodies entangled. They nip and push at each other, always trying to get the up hand.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the otters are achieved through quilting, applique and freehand embroidery. These techniques create different textures from the soft warm fur to the rippled water.
