River Guardian

A vibrant kingfisher perched regally atop a weathered post, its feathers a brilliant flash of azure and orange against the backdrop of a tranquil river. The post, wrapped in mooring rope, seemed to cradle the bird in rustic elegance, as if nature and man-made elements had conspired to create a picturesque tableau of harmony by the water's edge.
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the hare, grass and wildflowers were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
