Oystercatcher Bay

Gliding over the sea, this elegant Oystercatcher drops his pink legs down ready to feel the sand beneath him. Soon to be surrounded by the rocky cove of the bay, he feasts his eyes on the many up-opened mussel shells.
 
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Oystercatcher, mussels, and sand were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
