Meadows Gift
The soft wispy blooms of Knapweed have sprung from the grassland meadow below, as they do they spread their nectar-rich flowers up in the sun acting like a beacon to bee, beetles and butterflies. They are a firm favourite of these Marbled White Butterflies who are attracted to the only fully blooming flower. Together they feast on the gift of the meadow.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the butterflies, knapweed, leaves and steams were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, textile techniques.
