Glimmering Guardian

On a weathered post kissed by frost and tangled with a whisper of ivy, a Kingfisher surveys the mirrored stillness of the winter water. Its vibrant plumage glows against the pale morning light, a fleeting blaze of colour in a world hushed by the chill of dawn.
 
Several techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Kingfisher, post and Ivy were achieved through embroidering with metallic thread, quilting, applique, and textile techniques.
