Curious Quill
In the heart of an autumn woodland, beneath the sprawling branches of an ancient oak tree, a plump and endearing hedgehog stands atop a carpet of fallen oak leaves. Its tiny quills brushes against the russet foliage. With a sense of curiosity, it gazes skyward, its inquisitive snout drawn to a solitary acorn nestled amongst the leaves.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the hedgehog, acorns and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
