A Windswept Melody
In the serene woodland, a soothing scene unfolds as a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker delicately grasps the slender stem of a dried Angelica plant. As the wind gusts, it orchestrates a whimsical melody, the fragile stem sways gracefully, challenging the woodpecker's steadfast grip. Amidst this serene dance, the woodpecker remains unchallenged, finding solace in the gentle harmony of the swaying Angelica, a moment frozen in time where the seeds, cradled on the stem, a testament to nature's intricate ballet.
A number of techniques and mediums were used in the creation of this piece. The background is fabric painted and the Woodpecker, seeds, and leaves were achieved through quilting, applique, embroidery, and textile techniques.
